Airport Turns Pink: breast cancer awareness where the country passes through

Airport Turns Pink is India Turns Pink's flagship programme, run as a CSR partnership with the Airports Authority of India. Awareness and education reach travellers and airport staff in 11 airports today — Srinagar, Delhi, Varanasi, Guwahati, Mumbai, Shirdi, Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Tirupati, Tiruchirappalli and Madurai — with 11 more planned. As Pink Ribbon Foundation India's delivery partner, India Turns Pink takes the message to women where they already are, rather than waiting for them to come looking.

Most cancer charities can't tell you where your money goes. We name the scientist, the institution, the TRL level, and the cancer type. Every grant. Every rupee.
Our Vision
Every woman in India deserves access to the knowledge that can save her life.
Our vision is to develop a universal, accessible and scalable model of breast cancer prevention, awareness and education, ensuring that women and girls across India can access reliable information about breast health, risk awareness, early warning signs and the importance of seeking appropriate medical advice.
Five pillars
A National Programme for Every Woman
Prevention
Helping women understand factors that can influence breast cancer risk and empowering them with practical knowledge about breast health.
Awareness
Breaking the silence and fear surrounding breast cancer through culturally appropriate campaigns that reach women where they live, work and study.
Education
Providing accessible, evidence-based education on breast health, signs and symptoms, breast self-awareness and the importance of timely medical assessment.
Early Detection
Supporting programmes that encourage women to recognise changes in their breasts and access appropriate medical assessment and screening pathways.
Support
Working with qualified partners and established organisations to help women and families navigate the challenges associated with breast cancer.
Delivery Partner
Our Delivery Partner — India Turns Pink
Pink Ribbon Foundation India will financially support and work closely with its delivery partner, India Turns Pink, to deliver programmes on the ground. India Turns Pink provides an established grassroots platform for breast cancer awareness, education, community engagement and outreach. The Foundation will build on this delivery capability while developing further partnerships across states, cities, rural communities, educational institutions, healthcare networks and underserved populations.

The India Model
Global standards + local delivery
International governance, scientific expertise and accountability combined with trusted Indian organisations capable of delivering programmes within local communities.
Universal access
The ambition is to make prevention and awareness education available to women irrespective of geography or economic circumstances.
Local partnership
Programmes should be delivered through organisations and institutions that understand the communities they serve.
Evidence-based education
Information must be accurate, medically responsible and developed with appropriate professional and scientific input.
Measurable impact
Programmes will be monitored through measurable outputs and outcomes so donors and partners can understand what their investment is achieving.
Replicability
The Indian programme will be designed as a model that can be evaluated, improved and adapted for other countries.
Get Involved
How you can help.
Every action moves the science forward. Choose the path that fits you.
Fund Research
Your donation supports the charitable mission, including TRL 3–5 research at verified institutions. 85 paise of every rupee. Tracked to the grant.
Corporate Partnership
Align your CSR with verifiable science. Named researcher, named institution, named TRL level. Not pink-washing — proof.
Spread the Word
Share our mission in your language and your district. Help us reach the women who are screened last and diagnosed latest.
Scope
Breast Cancer and other Female Cancers
We fund research across all female gender-related cancers: gynaecological cancers that only affect women, plus breast cancer.
Tile colour reflects research attention and funding. Deepest pinks mark the cancers most commonly discussed — lightest pinks highlight the rare and under-researched ones that receive far less support.
Most common
Breast
The most commonly diagnosed cancer in women worldwide. Well-funded relative to other female cancers — but survival gaps persist across geographies and subtypes.
Scale
2.3M new cases / year globally
Financial architecture
Built to be lean. Not aspirational.
The 85/15 model directs 85% of donations towards the charitable mission — including research, prevention, awareness and approved programme activity — while 15% supports essential operational requirements such as governance, compliance, administration and programme infrastructure.
Programme funding is allocated against agreed objectives, documented activities and measurable outcomes wherever appropriate.
Radical transparency
We publish everything.
Every grant. Every rupee. Every result. Our open books are coming — full financial transparency so you can verify exactly where your money went. No hiding behind “overhead ratios.” Just the numbers.

The TRL ladder
Where your rupee meets the science.
The research portion of the charitable mission is targeted, not scattered. Every research project sits somewhere on the Technology Readiness Level scale. Tap a stage to see what it means — and why TRL 3–5 is the gap the research funding is directed towards.
TRL 3 · Why this gap kills breakthroughs
Proof of concept
The science works in the lab. Needs validation in relevant biological systems.
TRL 3–5 is where discoveries have proven their concept but can't attract pharmaceutical investment. A BRCA marker identified in the laboratory. Without bridge funding, this science simply stalls. We make sure it doesn't.
